Tom Flaherty has over 38 years of experience in land surveying ranging from management, technical, and field capacities delivering professional services to the AEC industry. He has served as the prime consultant on Texas Department of Transportation survey contracts for 20 years.
As Vice President and the Central Region Business Development Director for the Transportation Market, Tom’s responsibilities include coordinating with office leadership and Market Sector Leads to strategize, plan, and execute successful transportation pursuits, contracts, teaming arrangements, and projects.
Tom has been a Registered Professional Land Surveyor since 1998. In particular, his areas of expertise include coordination of field surveying, research, and office support. His focus is on preparation of various types of surveys, including extensive experience in all aspects of boundary surveys, topographic surveys, right-of-way surveys, subdivision platting, easements, geodetic control networks, accident site investigation surveys, construction staking, ground control for aerial mapping and vertical control circuits and coordination, and execution of field staff safety training.
Tom’s favorite SAM core value is People. He believes clients seek out and return to SAM for our services because of our reliability as trusted advisors. Internally, he believes a company is nothing without its people. He greatly enjoys mentoring and collaborating with staff members. Tom is active in the community and volunteers at the North Texas Food Bank and the Meals on Wheels program. He enjoys hunting, riding his motorcycle, grilling on the smoker, and spending time with his two adult children and granddaughter.
