Rhett Sloan

Rhett Sloan is a multi-state licensed surveyor (GA,LA,MS,ID,PA,KY,OH,NY,SD) and works for SAM Companies covering Ohio and all surrounding states as the SUE department manager, utilizing his 18 years of experience to advance the SUE and surveying abilities of the company and industry. Rhett has had the opportunity to gain a variety of survey and geophysical experience through the projects he has managed, but more importantly, from others in the SUE industry. He uses this experience to lead the transportation market for the Ohio region while assisting other market leads as a SME for Subsurface Utility Engineering.

In addition to his role at SAM, he serves as a board member for UESI national, a board member for the SUE Association, and is the first former president of the ASCE Akron-Canton Section, all while participating in other professional societies within his region. He enjoys tracking emerging technologies in the industry, finding new applications for existing technologies, and debating industry best practices with colleagues. He also enjoys speaking on ASCE 38 standards.

Rhett feels strongly about People being a critical core value. He finds the greatest value in collaboration with SAM colleagues throughout the organization and the around country. Inspiring thought within others is what brings us closer, fosters tenacity, a spurs innovation. Tenacity, determination, and positivity are the driving forces for success in the SUE team. He feels deeply excited seeing SAM colleagues overcome industry hurdles by collaborating and exchanging ideas. In his spare time, Rhett can be found in Western Pennsylvania working on his small farm, watching his sons play high school sports, and volunteering at his church’s handicap ramp ministry.
