Justin Lahman joined SAM with the acquisition of AXIS GeoSpatial LLC and AXIS GeoAviation LLC (AXIS), Maryland Limited Liability Companies headquartered in Easton, MD. Founded in 2001, AXIS became a nationally recognized geospatial company providing related services to many federal agencies such as USGS, USACE, NAVFAC, USDA, NOAA, etc., state government, local government, and private sector entities. Mr. Lahman served as the President of AXIS for 22 years.
Mr. Lahman has 34 years of professional experience in airborne surveying and mapping involving a variety of technical methodologies such as field surveying, photogrammetry, high-density/high-accuracy lidar, and multispectral/hyperspectral imagery to support multiple civil engineering and GIS applications. As an instructor for accredited surveying and mapping-related courses, Mr. Lahman is considered a subject matter expert in the application of airborne remote sensing technologies to support design-scale mapping for many State Departments of Transportation, as well as other similar government and private entities involved in civil engineering projects.
Mr. Lahman serves as a co-liaison between MAPPS and USGS. He is an active member in ASPRS, as well as an FAA licensed pilot, a licensed surveyor photogrammetrist, and a member of state surveying associations in DE, FL, MD, NJ, PA, and VA.
Outside of work, Justin is a devoted husband, a father to 3 children, and now has 2 grandchildren. As a lifelong musician, he has performed as a lead vocalist and guitarist in multiple rock bands. Justin is also an avid marksman, enjoying firearms, hunting, fishing, golfing and just about all other outdoor activities. A self-proclaimed adrenaline-junky – he is an experienced rider of sportbikes on pavement, dirtbikes on motocross/supercross tracks, and he is an aircraft pilot.
