John Doughty

Mr. Doughty works with all of SAM’s teams and departments. He is responsible for developing and maintaining SAM’s Quality Management Systems, providing quality reviews on projects, and providing senior leadership, support, and training to all regional offices. He gives corporate quality oversight and promotes continual improvements of operational procedures. His responsibilities include random audits of task orders in a structured format evaluating every aspect of SAM’s work, from authorization to deliverables.

As a quality manager, surveyor, business owner, and senior leader for other companies, Mr. Doughty has developed quality standard guidelines for Cadastral Survey, Geospatial, and Land Development departments and companies. Throughout his career, he has reviewed thousands of projects. He has successfully developed Quality Management System components, such as CAD Standards, Field Procedures, Feature Code Standards, File Structure Standards, Equipment Calibration Standards, and Data Management Programs.

John’s favorite SAM core value is Excellence in Service. He believes that excellent service is not accomplished solely by a great leader or project manager. Exceptional service is achieved by great People and teams working together, helping, supporting, and respecting each other’s ideas. We should not be afraid of holding ourselves and each other accountable to improve all of SAM’s Core Values continually. He is involved in the community by supporting and volunteering for the Ronald McDonald House and animal shelters. He resides in West Virginia and enjoys cycling and hiking with his wife.
