SAM provided coordination for the design-bid-build project in south Austin, Texas. The project included specific environmental challenges, including karst features and its location within the sensitive Edwards Aquifer recharge zone. SAM staff coordinated the location and construction of utilities to ensure compliance with the environmental requirements while adhering to the project schedule. When the project was let for construction, all utility relocations were outstanding with no special provisions pertaining to utility clearance dates. This creating exposure to contractor claims. Our team coordinated with each utility owner, the CTRMA, the roadway contractor, and the project’s construction management consultant to ensure that no claims or construction delays were realized.
