SAM teamed for SUE and Utility Coordination services with an engineering firm selected by the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) to reconstruct 12 miles of Loop 1 (MoPac) in Austin, Texas. The project involves adding a managed toll lane in each direction without the purchase of additional right-of-way. The southern half of the project is also constrained by a Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) line separating existing north and sound bound automobile lanes. Project challenges included relocating 1500′ of 42″ waterline across the Texas National Guard’s Camp Mabry and under the UPRR, as well as coordinating the design of electric distribution and transmission lines to mitigate conflicts with proposed soundwalls and overhead signs. SAM provided on-call SUE services and supplied the client with a full-time Utility Manager until all utility design packages were completed.
