Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) planned to replace the bridge on State Route 56 over Lost Creek and widen the road to provide safety. There were multiple large, high-pressure gas lines in the project area and it was imperative SAM find the ends of concrete casings which could not be designated underneath the highway, to see where the road could be extended. SAM coordinated directly with the gas company that owned multiple gas lines throughout the project and performed exploratory digging techniques outside of our normal scope to locate the casings.
The project was successfully completed on time and within budget. Client feedback from the project was positive, with project managers noting: “The professional and prudent application of SUE, with a team approach, seems almost certain now to have saved 6-7 figures and stopped a major threat to the project schedule. Thank you for facilitating the SUE.”
