SAM has been named a national preferred provider for surveying and geospatial services for the next five years to global infrastructure consulting firm AECOM. This new designation reflects AECOM’s confidence in SAM as a partner and service provider.
“We are excited to be selected as a preferred provider. This presents the opportunity to grow our partnership with AECOM and more quickly and easily deploy SAM teams and resources to support AECOM’s projects through an existing contract mechanism,” Said Mark Miller, SAM Survey Department Manager. “This is a huge time and effort benefit to both AECOM and SAM.”
The preferred provider program conducts the partner vetting process in advance of specific projects to provide AECOM project managers with a mechanism to engage quality firms on their projects and teams without going through the time-consuming contracting process for each engagement. AECOM evaluated potential preferred provider firms based on their work experience, geographic coverage and capabilities, value, quality, safety, health and environment, financial viability, and scope of knowledge.
Currently, SAM has 26 active projects with AECOM that range in value from just over $3,000 to more than $4.6 million. SAM has worked hand-in-hand with AECOM on various projects, including the SR 8 and SR 356 ITS Signal Project in downtown Butler, Pennsylvania, to help implement an intelligent transportation system. Our team met an aggressive design and construction schedule by utilizing a combination of ground-penetrating radar, advanced pipe and cable locators, and a vacuum extraction system to accurately, quickly and safely locate underground utilities where AECOM intended to put traffic signal poles.
