SAM has been awarded a contract by a major electrical engineering company to provide extensive surveying and Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) solutions throughout the Southeast United States. This contract is part of an ongoing $3.5M design-build program developed to support under-grounding initiatives of residential distribution lines.
SAM’s Utility Coordination team will identify existing utilities, power, and right-of-way property lines, in addition to placing stakes in the field, and supporting storm hardening on several projects across the Southeast region. We will deliver accurate solutions using conventional survey, Global Positioning System (GPS), and vacuum excavation methods. Additionally, our on-site crew will forecast utility obstacles to provide an opportunity for any necessary re-designs. SAM’s involvement in this project will streamline the survey process and equip construction crews with precise utility locates and the proper documentation to obtain permits.
“SAM’s multi-service approach on this project, across all its locations, will showcase our effectiveness in leveraging our comprehensive resources and crews to get the job done. Our ability to deploy teams at an accelerated rate based on client needs will allow their drilling work to continue simultaneously to surveying procedures,” said John Taylor, SAM SUE Department Manager.
SAM was awarded the contract based on our history of successful projects in the electric power industry nationwide, our reputation for having specialized field crews, technicians, and project managers, and our proven ability to mobilize advanced technology and staff quickly. The SAM team understands the unique requirements of Investor-Owned Utility (IOU) clients and provides the comprehensive data and insights that our partners need to maintain and expand their electric power infrastructure safely and efficiently.
