SAM Wins a Contract with CTRMA for Utility Locating Services

May 3, 2022

SAM has been awarded a four-year contract by the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) as part of ongoing, long-term improvement plans for transportation infrastructure throughout Williamson and Travis Counties. SAM will provide on-call Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and Utility Coordination to locate and mark utilities in the field.

When needed, our team will conduct a Utility Engineering Investigation to determine the location of CTRMA-owned utilities, including irrigation lines, power and communication conduits, and duct bank runs tying down the horizontal locations using Quality Level B standards wherever possible. SAM will also perform subsurface and above-ground utility engineering services in accordance with ACSE/CI Standard 38-02 Standard Guidelines for the Collection and Depiction of Existing Subsurface Utility Data.

SAM has committed to responding to notifications to locate and mark utilities quickly, within two weeks, and when requested, within 48 hours of being notified by the Mobility Authority.

“SAM’s staffing depth and ability to mobilize quickly allows us to meet the CTRMA’s needs for a quick response time necessary for project success,” said David Whiddon, SAM VP and Office Manager. “Our efforts will provide the essential data and records that enable the Authority to move quickly when upgrading existing facilities or integrating new ones.”

Our field crews and subject matter experts are experienced and equipped to meet the needs of the CTRMA. SAM has previously supported the CTRMA on various infrastructure improvement projects across central Texas, including the MoPac Tollway in Austin, S.H. 45 SW, and U.S. 183 South, US 183 PH III.
